According to the Industrial Research Center of the China Association of Fragrance Flavour and Cosmetic Industries (CAFFCI), China's cosmetics market reached a total transaction value of RMB 1,073.822 billion in 2024, marking a 2.8% year-on-year increase. The industry continues to experience steady growth and sustained expansion momentum.

As consumer demand for personalized and diverse products continues to rise, the market is undergoing rapid transformation, intensifying competition across the sector. Both consumers and the broader market are placing greater emphasis on the technological capabilities of cosmetics enterprises, making technological innovation a key driver for enhancing quality, boosting sales, and promoting healthy industry development.

Guided by PCHi’s authoritative think tank, the CSTIC, the 2025 edition of PCHi Technology Summit will continue to embody PCHi's technology-led and innovation-driven approach. As cutting-edge technology innovation lay the groundwork for cosmetic ingredient breakthroughs, integrating these advancements into ingredient development has become a key focus across the value chain. In response, PCHi Technology Summit 2025 introduces a brand-new forum dedicated to the development and application of emerging technologies and new raw materials. The forum will spotlight innovation-enabling technologies and help shape a collaborative ecosystem for raw material innovation.

Ø Innovations in the Science of Traditional Chinese Medicine (New)

Highlights: The growing popularity of the “China Chic” trend (Guo Chao), coupled with surging demand for natural, functional products, has propelled traditional Chinese herbal ingredients to the forefront of cosmetic innovation. Celebrated for their rich cultural roots and unique bioactivity, these ingredients are drawing global attention. Merging China’s botanical heritage with modern science, Chinese herbal cosmetics are gaining ground both at home and abroad. However, challenges such as limited scientific substantiation, the absence of unified industry standards, and international adoption persist. Aligned with national strategies such as "Healthy China", the Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Cosmetics, and the Provisions on Supporting Cosmetic Raw Material Innovation, this new forum aims to integrate science, culture, and industry. The goal: to transform Chinese herbal ingredients from cultural emblems into globally recognized technical strengths and enhance China's voice in the international beauty arena.
